Pepa Devesa started her career as an interpreter and translator in the US, in 1995. She has a degree in English Philology and a MA in Hispanic Studies.

She also writes her own fiction and teaches English and Spanish.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

1996 – Present. Spanish / English Translator, Interpreter and Proofreader.

1996 - 2001.

· Consecutive interpreting assignments, translation and proofreading in medical, social work, and educational settings.

· Clinical trials, insurance forms, and web pages.   

· Voice-over: providing the voice for the Spanish voice-over of infomercials.

 

2001 - present.

Translation and proofreading:

· General, text books, social sciences, museum exhibitions, history.

· Medical, pharmaceutical, dentistry.

· Finances and business, marketing, software, telephony and electronic devices, transportation systems, architecture, press releases, hospitality and cuisine, interviewing/Human Resources, environment and sustainable development, patents and journalism.

            

 

PUBLICATIONS AND ACTIVITIES

· Publication of the short story "Papiroflexia" in aDona'T. May 2004. Published two other stories in the same magazine in November 2005.

· Translation into Spanish of the short story “The Happening”, by Laura Hird, for The Barcelona Review, issue #42.

· Publication of the short story "La decisión" in The Barcelona Review (BarcelonaReview.com), issue #28.  December 2001.

· Translation into English of a fragment of the novel Ramona Rosbif, by Isa Trolec, and published in Two Lines: A Journal of Translation, May 1999.

· Proofreading/editing the manuscript of the book Los Arias Dávila de Segovia: entre la sinagoga y la iglesia, written in Spanish by Dr. David Gitlitz of the University of Rhode Island, and published by International Scholar Publications. February 1995.
